Witchbrook finally has a release date: January 28, 2027

Witchbrook, the cozy witch life-sim fans have been waiting on since its 2018 reveal, finally has a date. It launches on January 28, 2027, and the news came during Nintendo's October Indie World Showcase.

If you have been following the game for years, the wait is nearly over: that is roughly three months from now.

Where and when you can play

GameSpot reports that Witchbrook is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. Polygon describes the release as "early 2027" on Switch, PC, PS5 and Xbox, and Nintendo Life confirms the same January 28 date for both Switch models.

Xbox players have a bonus. Pure Xbox says the game is headed to Xbox Game Pass in January, one of three Game Pass release dates revealed during the showcase.

One small wrinkle: the game's Steam page lists the release as January 27, 2027. The coverage above gives January 28, so check the store page of your platform closer to launch.

What kind of game it is

Witchbrook is published by Chucklefish. Its Steam listing calls it a "spellbinding witch life-sim" for up to four players. You start as the newest resident witch in the seaside town of Mossport, where you make friends, find love and work toward graduation and beyond.

Outlets lean on familiar comparisons. GameSpot calls it Stardew Valley meets Kiki's Delivery Service, and notes that at first glance it looks like another comfortable life sim in the vein of Coral Island, Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons. Polygon's headline goes with "Harry Potter meets Stardew Valley."

The showcase

Witchbrook was the first trailer shown in the Indie World stream, according to GameSpot's showcase roundup. That roundup calls the show a rapid-fire look at upcoming Switch games from third-party partners, with several raccoon-themed titles in the mix. Nintendo Life had previewed it as roughly 15 minutes of news for indies heading to Switch and Switch 2.
